Eden is a collection of works by Japanese photographer Issei Suda. Issei Suda was one of Japan's leading postwar photographers, who passed away in March 2019. His work depicts the realities of life from a folkloric perspective. His magical depictions using a 6x6 camera sometimes give the impression of an eerie and otherworldly atmosphere, creating a unique worldview where the everyday and the extraordinary intersect. This book is a collection of images taken in 2000 on the Boso Peninsula and surrounding areas of Chiba Prefecture, where he lived at the time. Unusually for Suda's work, there are few people and the focus is on landscapes. The book was published by photographer Masato Seto (Place M), but at the end of the book, he writes that Suda said, "Photography is a delusion," and continues that the time spent alone taking photos in the dark was "Eden" for Suda. For Suda, the Boso Peninsula has become a "fantasy peninsula," and his sense of capturing an invisible atmosphere is a skill unique to him.
