"Marevelous Tales of Black Ink" is a photo collection by Nobuyoshi Araki, one of Japan's leading photographers, also known as "Araki". As exemplified by "Sentimental Journey", a collection of photos from his honeymoon with his wife Yoko, Araki's photographs are born from his close relationship with his subjects. This book also shows an erotic and radical aspect, and the relationship between Araki and his subjects is intensely depicted. Originally a collection of serials in the SM magazine "SM Sniper", in addition to the unique situation of photographing women in bondage, the prints are processed by covering the obscene parts of the women with ink. Up to this point, it is the same as the collection of works published by Araki's own label in the 1990s with the same title, but this book published by Morel further features Araki's ink characters on the plates, and another image of flowers is interwoven alternately. It is a work that is typical of Araki in recent years, with an even greater emphasis on sex, life, and even the world of death. Text by Simon Baker, curator at Tate Modern (English only). Limited edition of 1000.
