"Catalogo" is a photo book by Mexican artist Miguel Calderon. Calderon was born in Mexico in 1971 and studied art at the San Francisco Art Institute. He is currently active as a writer and is active mainly in painting, photography, video and installation. His 1998 exhibition "Aggressively Mediocre / Mentally Challenged / Fantasy Island" was purchased by film director Wes Anderson for the shoot of "The Royal Tenenbaums". In recent years, he has collaborated with photographer Nick Waplington to create a photo series and graphic novels. His style is very unique, influenced by Mexico's chaotic identity and sometimes American pop culture. This book is composed of images of prostitutes, and is a collection of photos of women that Calderon was given to him by his uncle at the age of 13 and told to "choose one to become a man," re-edited into the form of an autobiographical story of his "awakening to sex."
