"Remote Past a Memoir: 1951-1966" is a photo collection by Kikuji Kawada, one of Japan's leading postwar photographers. Born in Ibaraki Prefecture in 1933, after graduating from Rikkyo High School and University, he worked at Shinchosha, taking gravure photos, but left the company after a few years to go freelance. He participated in "10 Eyes" and "VIVO," which were led by critic and commentator Tatsuo Fukushima and pursued new photographic expressions not limited to realism photography, and in 1965 released "The Map," one of the greatest masterpieces in the history of postwar Japanese photography. Since then, Kikuji Kawada has continued to pursue something that cannot be visualized based on grand themes such as "the world" and "the universe," and has continued to create energetically since 2000. This book is a collection of works published at the third exhibition of the Daikanyama Photo Fair, organized by the Fine Art Photography Association of Japan (FAPA). This work, which was also used as the main visual for the fair, features Kawada's early works from the 1950s and 1960s, including many unpublished pieces.
