This book was published on the occasion of the exhibition "10 x 10 Japanese Photobooks," which began at the ICP in New York in 2012 and was also held at the Unseen Photo Fair in 2014. The book introduces 100 Japanese photobooks selected by 10 specialists online and 10 others at the reading event. In the midst of the global photobook boom since 2000, Japan has become the world's leading "photobook powerhouse" by using photobooks, rather than prints, as a means of expression that differs from the Western "museum/gallery → print orientation." This exhibition, which was held with respect for such Japanese photographers and photobooks, introduces a variety of works, both famous and unknown, published from the postwar period until the 2000s. The text by Akira Hasegawa at the end of the book and the interviews with Dan Abbe and Atsushi Fujiwara are also worth reading (written in both English and Japanese). Limited to 400 copies. Includes edition number.
