"Rasen Kaigan" is a photo book by Japanese female photographer Lieko Shiga. Lieko Shiga's "Blind Date", which was released as a photo book after her solo exhibition at the Marugame Inokuma Museum of Contemporary Art last year, is still fresh in our memory. She studied photography at Chelsea College of Art, University of the Arts London, and won the 33rd Kimura Ihei Photography Award for "Lilly", which uses other-dimensional prints and techniques to depict residents living in London housing complexes, and "Canary", a record of her residency stays in Sendai, Brisbane, and Singapore. She is currently based in Sendai and has attracted a lot of attention both in Japan and abroad. This book is one of her representative works, published in 2013, and is composed of illustrations taken and created over the nearly six years since she moved to Kitakama, Natori City, Miyagi Prefecture. After the earthquake, through her work as a photographer in a changing region, the book describes the photographer's thoughts as she has repeatedly asked herself questions about the medium of photography, and about life and expression that exist with the land.
