This book is a photo book "Beyrouth, Center Ville" planned by Dominique Edde, a writer from Lebanon in the early 1990s. Literally translated, it means "Central Beirut". The Lebanese civil war, which lasted from 1975 to 1990, repeatedly destroyed and collapsed the capital, Beirut, and when it ended, it was in ruins. Edde, who was active in Paris, decided to set up his own publishing company and, with the cooperation of Robert Delpire, to compile this image into a ``photo book''. Moreover, by recording images taken by the eyes of several photographers rather than just one person, we have endeavored to convey the reality from multiple perspectives. The six invited photographers were convened here from fall to winter of 1991 to take pictures. Those in charge were Gabriele Basilico, Fouad Elkoury, Magnum Photo's Raymond Depardon, Rene Burri, Josef Koudelka, and Robert Frank of "The Americans" fame. This is a ``record collection'' of the lost city, kept by great people. A masterpiece.
