``Jeanne (Acceptable)'' is a photo book by Nobuyoshi Araki, one of Japan's leading photographers, also known as ``Araki.'' Although it was published in 1991, it was shot and produced in 1965 when Araki was working as an advertising photographer for Dentsu, at the age of 25, and was originally a private edition with prints pasted directly onto four scrapbooks. It was a photo book (original title: ``Gemi: La Passion de Jeanne d'Arc''). The original was lost, but about 25 years later a film copy of all the pages was found, leading to the publication of this book. Inspired by the film ``The Trial of Joan,'' directed by Carl Theo Dreyer, this book says, ``Using bold montage techniques, you can feel the atmosphere of the '60s era between the screens that leave traces of vivid handiwork. You can almost hear the youthful breathing of a 25-year-old photographer who has absorbed this in his entire body.'' (From the commentary) (With obi, however, the obi is stuck to the box. Some pages are stuck and damaged).
