``USSR 1991 (Cover B, Signed)'' is a collection of works by Keizo Kitajima, one of Japan's leading photographers. As the title suggests, this is a collection of images taken over a period of approximately one year in the early 1990s, at the time of the collapse of the "(former) Soviet Union." This project began in response to a request from a certain newspaper company who wanted to take images and videos of the 15 Commonwealth Republics after their collapse and bring them home. The work was carried out in the extremely dangerous conditions of a socialist country under a bureaucratic regime, and the portraits of people and landscapes are recorded in pairs. There is Russia and Ukraine, but rather than a republic, these countries are full of ``collapse'' and ``chaos,'' giving a sense of uncertainty about the times and the future. Kitajima was very particular about the ``time to shoot'' as well as ``the time to announce'', and apparently decided to ``announce this film at least 10 years in advance, when the Soviet Union would be forgotten.'' . Kitajima's ``1991'' project has finally come to an end here, but it is a book that has value and significance to read again in 2023. 3 types of case covers. Limited to 450 copies. Includes edition number. Signed by the photographer . (Slightly damaged double-page binding)
