Shoji Ueda (Photo Poche) is a collection of photographs by Shoji Ueda, one of Japan's leading photographers after the war. Born in Sakaiminato, Tottori Prefecture in 1913, Masaharu Ueda began photography at the age of 17 and continued taking photographs for about 70 years until his death in 2000. Due to the chaos of the evacuation, he lost the negatives he had taken before the war. The opportunity for Ueda to spread his wings nationwide and to the world was in the 1970s, when Shoji Yamagishi of Camera Mainichi was in charge of editing "Children the Year Around" (1971), and 27 photographers were selected. It was around the time of "Sand Dunes・Seasons of the Children" in the Asahi Sonorama Photo Selection Series. This is a book from the "Photo Poche" series, which summarizes the masterpieces of famous photographers in pocket-sized books. Text is in French.
