"My Japan (Unopened)" is a collection of works by Japanese photographer Kazumasa Suda. Issei Suda, one of the leading photographers of post-war Japan who passed away in March 2019. Born in 1940, there was a time in the 1960s when Nobuyoshi Araki, who was the same age as him, dominated the monthly camera magazine, and it seems that Araki also respected him from that time. Behind the high economic growth period after the war, many cultures and customs were being lost, and in a situation where identity was collapsing, Issei Suda portrayed the actual situation from a folklore perspective. The depiction, which can be said to be magical using 6x6, creates a unique worldview where the ordinary and the extraordinary intersect, sometimes making you feel the atmosphere of another world that is eerie and frightening. This book is a collection of catalog works published at the 2021 exhibition held at the Antwerp Provincial Museum of Photography in Belgium, and contains life work from the early 60's to the 2010's. Valuable illustrations not included in previously published works are also introduced. Brand new unopened.
