A photo collection by Japanese photographer Daisuke Ito (1976-), "Rio, Favela, Private Edition." After graduating from university, Daisuke Ito studied photography at the design school "IDEP" in Barcelona, then traveled around Central and South America for two years, and since 2004 has been working as a photographer while living in the favelas (slums) of Rio de Janeiro. This book was published in conjunction with a joint exhibition with Magnum Photos held at the Tokyo Metropolitan Theatre in 2016, with the theme of Rio, which is excited by the Olympics. He communicates with the residents, shares drinks with them, and records their true appearance in monochrome with rough grain, without stepping into their sanctuary. You can feel the vitality of human beings from the daily life of the favelas, such as the Latin heat, the decadence of the slums, and life and death, such as barefoot children running, samba troupes, gangsters with guns in their trousers, and the night view of the city. Limited to 300 copies. Comes with a poster.
