A collection of works edited by Sohachi Kimura, a famous Japanese painter and essayist. As a painter, he is famous for his "Illustration" works, and Shohachi Kimura was in charge of the illustrations for one of Kafu Nagai's greatest masterpieces, "Saito Kitan". On the other hand, he is also an artist who has made a name for himself as a writer, writing essays on art-related topics and essays on Tokyo's past and present, and the manners and customs of Tokyo. And this book is a unique book with the theme of "Ginza", which engraves its name in the "history of photography" in Japan. "Ginza Neighborhood", which is mainly text and includes nishiki-e by Hiroshige Utagawa IV and illustrations by Yasuharu Inoue, is full of highlights and readings, but the separate volume "Album Ginza Hatcho" is wonderful. "Panorama" was created by my friend Hoichi Suzuki by stitching together photographs of the facades of shops facing Chuo-dori, taken under the same weather conditions and times as much as possible. Although it is often compared to American contemporary artist Edward Ruscha's representative work "Every Building on the Sunset Strip," it is a valuable collection of works completed more than 10 years before Ruscha's 1966 creation.
