The inaugural issue of fashion and culture magazine Dune, directed by legendary editor-in-chief Hayashi Fumihiro, was published in summer 1993. Hayashi, who passed away at the young age of 46 after suffering from colon cancer, utilized his network in the fashion, art and subculture fields to have a number of distinguished artists and photographers participate in Dune. From the inaugural issue in 1993, which featured Miyazawa Rie on the cover, to the 33rd issue, the final issue in 2008, which featured Kikuchi Rinko on the cover. It was then republished in 2011 as Libertin / Dune, but the magazine ended up being Hayashi's last work. This issue is the first issue, which is a memorable one, and it features a portrait of Rie Miyazawa by Kei Ogata, a feature on Kate Moss and Winona Ryder, photos by Nan Goldin, and texts by Kenichi Yamakawa, Haruko Mizukami, Hiroshi Morinaga, Shigeo Goto, and other artists. Art direction is by Yasushi Fujimoto. (Some pages are torn and out of place)
