"Portratt 1910-32" is a collection of works by Swedish photographer John Alinder (1878-1957). Alinder was born in Savasta village, Altuna parish, Uppland, central-eastern Sweden. He lived there all his life, but he did not take over the family farm. He taught himself photography and ran a country shop and a bar. These photographs, discovered by a museum curator in the 1980s, are almost all portraits of local people against a background of greenery and trees, but they are wonderful images full of sublimity and dignity that are no less than those of August Sander (Germany) and Mike Disfarmer (American). Even now, almost 100 years later, they do not feel old at all, and are a masterpiece of unknown portrait work that beautifully depicts the purity, beauty, and preciousness of the human heart. The first edition of the English version sold out immediately. This is the Swedish version.
