"KATSURA" is a photo book by Yasuhiro Ishimoto, one of Japan's leading photographers. Yasuhiro Ishimoto, who learned from Harry Callahan and others at the New Bowhouse in the United States, created a new sensation in the postwar Japanese photography world, where news and documents were the main focus, with a unique sense of modeling and aesthetics. And the representative work along with "One day somewhere (1958)" and "Chicago, Chicago (1969)" is this book "Katsura". Ishimoto, who returned to Japan in the early 1950s, was fascinated by the sense of unity and rhythm of "Katsura"'s "garden, architecture, and space," which is different from other architecture seen in Kyoto and Nara in the same year, and is a famous inn in Kyoto. I stayed at "Tawaraya" and took a picture. Preface / text by Kenzo Tange, a leading Japanese architect and Bauhaus president Walter Gropius, layout and clothing by Bauhaus designer Herbert Buyer, and Katsura's title by artist Toko Shinoda. A timeless masterpiece by co-starring.
