A collection of works and photographs by Japanese designer Fujio Ishimoto. For many years, Fujio Ishimoto was a textile designer for Finland's world-famous brand Marimekko. He is the second Japanese designer to work for Marimekko, following Katsuji Wakisaka, who is currently the textile designer for SOU SOU. After graduating from Tokyo University of the Arts and working as a graphic designer, he traveled the world and stopped in Finland, where he had a fateful encounter with Armi Ratia, founder of Marimekko. Since becoming a full-time employee in 1974, he has created his own unique worldview that incorporates the climate and culture of Finland and elements of Japanese "wa", and has frequently released unique designs that are simple and sophisticated, rustic and decorative, light and dynamic, and has even won the Kaj Franck Award. Ishimoto has also been inspired by earth and its surroundings, and has served as a visiting artist at Arabia, a ceramics brand of the Iittala Group, where he has also been involved in the design and production of ceramics. This is a valuable book that graphically introduces Ishimoto's design work over the years. It is written in Finnish, Swedish and English. A separate Japanese translation of the preface is included.
