The douujinshi "Provoke" was first published in November 1968 based on photographs, essays and poems. The members started with Koji Taki (critic), Takuma Nakahira (photographer / critic), Yutaka Takanashi (photographer), Takahiko Okada (poet), and Daido Moriyama from the second issue. I am joining. As a douujinshi, the legendary douujin group that finally disbanded "First, let's go through the world of grace" (1970), which was published up to the third issue and then published comprehensively. The fact that the two people based on the "words" of Taki and Nakahira are the core is also unique, and he continued to advocate "provocative thought" from both sides of the visual text (photograph and language). Provoke continued to ask "what is a photograph", "what is a video", and "what is a word" from a "private" approach rather than a "public" record like realism or documents. Its visual and linguistic expressions are evaluated not only in photography but also in various aspects such as art and art. In 2018, a reprint was published by Nitesha in Japan, but this book is a reprint version published by Steidl & Edition 7L (when "Japanse Box" was released) in 2001.
