"The Banquet Books on Books No. 15 (Signed)" is a photo collection by leading Japanese photographer Nobuyoshi Araki. Inspired by his father, a sandal craftsman and amateur photographer, he began photography. After graduating from the Department of Photographic Printing Engineering, Faculty of Engineering, Chiba University, he joined Dentsu. While working, he published his privately published "Sentimental Journey" in 1971, embarking on his career as a photographer. To date, he has published over 500 photobooks and successfully held large-scale solo exhibitions both in Japan and abroad. As the title suggests, this book features photographs of Araki's meals. These were created by his beloved wife, Yoko, who died young and is an essential part of Araki's photography. The close-up color photographs of the meals are vivid and grotesque, yet evoke the erotic impression characteristic of Araki. The extensive menus described convey Yoko's love. The second half of the book, in which he writes, "Meals were an Affair with Death," features home-cooked meals prepared by Araki when he had only one month left to live, and the photographs are in black and white. This book gives a glimpse into the relationship between Araki and Yoko, a couple who have a place in the history of Japanese photography, even through a meal. This is a revised, large-format edition of the 1993 Magazine House first edition, published overseas as the 15th issue of the "Books on Books" series of photo book facsimiles. Signed by the photographer .
