This is a collection of works by Japanese photographer Shigeru Uchiyama. Born in Osaka in 1951, Uchiyama graduated from Tokyo College of Photography (now Tokyo Polytechnic University) and began working as a freelance photographer. Initially aiming to work in commercial photography, he was approached in 1975 with the question, "Would you like to try photographing jazz?" This prompted him to become a journalist, focusing on jazz musicians. He subsequently worked on assignments for music magazines such as Swing Journal and as a dedicated photographer for jazz clubs like the Blue Note. This book, published posthumously in 1993, is a collection of photographs of jazz master Miles Davis, taken over nearly a decade from the early 1980s. Just as he began photographing jazz in 1975, Miles went on a long hiatus, but miraculously returned in 1980. He continued to visit live shows overseas, building a relationship of trust that eventually earned him permission to enter his hotel room with the simple words, "Your photographer." This book contains not only live performance scenes but also many precious behind-the-scenes shots, and Uchiyama writes in detail about his memories of Miles. Comes with a dust jacket and is autographed by the photographer .
