"The Strawhat Cat (Japanese Signed)" is a photo collection by leading Japanese photographer Masahisa Fukase. It is one of his most well-known works, alongside "Family," "Yoko (Wife)," and "Raven," and is the third installment in his "Cat" series, following "Viva! Sasuke" and "Sasuke!! Dear Cat." In addition to Sasuke (the second generation), this work also features his younger sister Momoe. The afterword, written by Fukase himself, speaks of Fukase's love for cats and his own photographic sensibilities. The following is an excerpt: "They say that cats are short and therefore extremely nearsighted, but have wonderful hearing. I've been taking so many photos over the past year, lying on my stomach at cat eye level, that I've somehow become a cat myself. Taking photos while freely playing with the things I like amid the changing nature has been a happy experience. Sasuke and Momoe are not the cutest stuffed animal-like cats you'd expect; they're just the kind of mixed-breed cats you'd see in any backstreet in town. I didn't want to capture beautiful, cute cats; I wanted to capture myself reflected in their eyes and capture their loveliness. So perhaps this photo book can be called a 'self-portrait' of me, using Sasuke and Momoe as my models." Includes obi.
