A book by Japanese photographer Ichitaka Narahara, "Human Land (Reprint Edition)". In 1956 he made a shocking debut at the solo exhibition "Human Land", which presented the fundamental situation of "Nature and Humans" and "Social Mechanisms versus Humans" as "Personal Documents". Narahara has been releasing large-scale works in which intelligence and sensibility are fused wonderfully. In the 1960s and 1970s, he formed "VIVO" with Higashimatsu Lighting, Kikuharu Kawada, and Eikoh Hosoe, and produced many masterpieces. This book is the first book published after 30 years of "Human Land" published only at the exhibition (some of them are also published in other photo books). Narahara, who studied at Waseda University's graduate school, travels to Kyushu during the spring break, stopping at Kurokami Village, buried in lava on Sakurajima, and Hashima (Gunkanjima), an artificial coal mine floating in the East China Sea. The life of the two islands, the “human life that continues to live in the marginal situation”, had a great impact on Narahara, and the two stages became one concept and became a work. It is a masterpiece in the history of Japanese photography that shows the scenery of remote areas and the people who live there using camera work that has been demonstrated. Published and reprinted in 2017.
