Nobuyoshi Araki is one of Japan's leading photographers. This book, "Ciro, Araki and Two Women," is the 10th volume of the 20-volume Araki Nobuyoshi Complete Works published by Heibonsha. This book is a compilation of photographs that have been published in photobooks such as "My Beloved Ciro" and "Sentimental Winter Journey," with the theme of Araki's beloved cat Ciro. The kitten was four months old and was brought home by his wife Yoko from her parents' home in March 1988. The photos and accompanying text show how Araki, who hated cats, gradually fell in love with the kitten's cuteness. The latter half of the book includes copies of Araki's diary after Yoko's death and a letter from Ettore Sottsass, and the last photo of Ciro is from December 31, 1995. "She's my lover, and she's my life," Araki says of Ciro, and among the many women he has portrayed intimately, this is a book in which Yoko and Ciro stand out as Araki's subjects.
