“Zuecca” is a collection of works by Japanese artist Hiroshi Nagai (1951-2011). Around the 1980s, the intention to pursue the possibility of new photography beyond the conventional frame spread, and in the United States, as represented by Cindy Sherman and others, photography including contemporary art elements attracted attention. I started collecting. In Japan, Shinzo Shimao, Masaru Taniguchi and Hiroshi Nagai held an “Assembrage Photography Exhibition” (naming: Hiroshi Nagai) in 1978, and non-photographers were also free to participate. In particular, Nagai's work, which continues to create photographic installations, seems to have been unusually different. Nagai has been working together with Takashi Ando under the name of “Zuecca” since 1975, and published collages and drawings using photographs. In 1985, he published this book as a photo book. By the way, Nagai, together with Shinzo Shimao in 1982, is also holding a photo exhibition with a video installation that does not show any works, but only monitors environmental videos.
