Japanese female photographer Michiko Matsumoto's photo book “Portrait New York Women”. Since the 1980s, Michiko Matsumoto has been presenting works focusing on portraits of artists and dancers from around the world, including New York and Paris. It is often aimed at women and holds solo exhibitions that photograph Yoko Ono and Niki de Saint-Fahl. This book is a collection of 65 women who I met in New York. Filmed in New York from 1980 to 1982, artists, singers, actresses, etc. appear (writer share height, Toni Morrison, Betty Freedan, Kate Millet, performing artist Laurie Anderson, modeling artist Judy Chicago). Matsumoto visits the workplace and atelier and shoots, but feels that the strength of women is concealed in a cool gaze that looks straight into the lens. Each photo is posted with a text by Matsumoto, and the photo composition is handled by Kazuo Nishii, a Japanese photo critic and editor. With obi.
