A collection of photographs of Awane Shogo (1901-2002) known as anti-war activists in Okinawa, "The Island on which Humans Live-Record of the Okinawa Iejima Land Struggle-". Shogo Awane, who moved to Cuba and Peru as immigrants, returned to Okinawa in 1934, moved to Iejima and engaged in agriculture. Ie Island is the first attacked island in the Pacific War, and after the war, residents are forced to evict for the construction of a US military base. Residents revolted, but the land was seized by the "guns and bulldozers" by the US Army, and those who lost their homes were forced to live in tents, and many were victims. Akane confronted the US military nonviolently to reclaim their land. This book is a record of the Iejima land struggle that Awan copied. It shows the ruins of houses that have been smashed, the living conditions of tents, and the struggles such as the activities of the party and the people's convention. It is not as violent as a documentary about university struggles, but it shows the appearances of people who confronted the problem of Okinawa that is also common today.
