"Heitobari" is a collection of works by Japanese photographer Tsutomu Hirose. Born in Nagoya, Aichi Prefecture in 1965, after graduating from high school, Hirose studied at the Akasegawa Genpei classroom at the Tokyo University of Art and Design Kogengaku Kobo. He then went on to Waseda University and participated in Daido Moriyama's workshop (Photo Session '86). After graduating from university in 1989, he began his creative endeavors in earnest. He has been publishing his work for a long time in a booklet titled "Katari-Roku," which continues to this day. In 2011, he opened "Bar Chot" in Koenji, where he holds exhibitions alongside the bar, and continues to publish "Katari-Roku." Hirose is famous for the legendary "Tokuyama-kun's Room," in which he exhibited life-size copies of the floor, walls, and ceiling of a friend's one-room apartment for two months, and "Asphalt Block Wall," included in this book, is one of his representative works. As the name suggests, this work focuses only on street blocks, and the contrasts reminiscent of Daido Moriyama's "Light and Shadow," the subtle differences in materials and shapes, the multifaceted expressions and shapes, and above all, the photographer's unique perspective are captivating. Limited to 300 copies. Includes an edition number.
