"Slow Boat (First Edition, Signed)" is a photo book by Japanese photographer Koji Onaka. Born in Fukuoka Prefecture, Koji Onaka graduated from Tokyo College of Photography (now Tokyo Visual Arts) and then joined the legendary self-managed gallery "CAMP" founded by Daido Moriyama and Keizo Kitajima. Since then, he has held exhibitions both in Japan and abroad, including the gallery "Kaido", which closed temporarily but reopened in 2016, and is an active photographer who continues to publish photo books. He is known for his poetic and lyrical landscapes, including his early representative works "Takaawadachigusa" and "Distance". This book is a collection of black and white photographs taken across Japan from 1984 to 1999. It was also published in China in 2017. In this book, Onaka writes that he felt a thrill as he rediscovered his own photographs when he looked back at his old contact prints during an exhibition in 2001. Having switched from black and white to color in 1999, Onaka confronted his old black and white works in this photobook, "selecting and editing my favorite shots regardless of place or time."
