A collection of works by Japanese photographer Suda Issei, "A Journey to the Tobacco Shop on the Corner (Signed)". Born in 1940, in the 1960s, he dominated the monthly issues of camera magazines with Nobuyoshi Araki, who was the same age as him, and Araki had a high regard for him even back then. Behind the scenes of the postwar high-growth period, many cultures and customs were lost, and identities were collapsing. Suda Issei captured the reality of the situation from a folkloric perspective. His magical depictions using a 6x6 camera sometimes give the impression of an eerie and creepy otherworldly atmosphere, creating a unique worldview where the everyday and the extraordinary intersect. This book is a collection of works that were serialized in Camera Mainichi in 1980, compiled after nearly 30 years. The work was compiled from the perspective that even a distance of just a few hundred meters can be a journey, in a situation where he was forced to live in hospital due to the worsening of his chronic illness. He switched to a Leica camera and shot in 35mm format, establishing a new style and marking a turning point for him as a photographer. Signed by the photographer .
