Photobook "I Shoot America" by Japanese photographer and filmmaker Kenji Kanesaka (1934-1999). When he first came to the United States in 1961, he introduced the hippie movement, counterculture, and experimental films that took place in the United States to Japan. In addition, Kanasaka made a name for himself in the Japanese underground scene that flourished in the latter half of the 1960s by focusing on criticism and political activities. This book was published in conjunction with the exhibition held at the now-deceased "Tokyo Hipster Club" (Harajuku, Tokyo) in 2009, and contains photographs taken in the United States in the 1960s and 1970s. From a scene in the city, young hippies, subjects such as the Black Panther Party that show the social situation in the United States at that time, and poets Allen Ginsberg and Andy Warhol with whom Kanasaka interacted appeared. As a private documentary, a fragment of the American culture and movement that Kanasaka saw and felt is projected.
