A photograph collection by Japanese photographer Yunobu Nakamura "Ama". Born in Naoshima, Kagawa in 1925, his father was one of the last Amimotos in Naoshima. He grew up looking at the Seto Inland Sea from an early age and continued to take amateur photography even after working at the Mitsubishi Smelter and studied under Yoichi Midorikawa, a leading photographer of the Seto Inland Sea. After the age of 30, he became a professional photographer and began to show the climate and culture of the area such as "Seto Inland Sea" and "People in Seto" through photographs while fading "trains, steam locomotives" and "ama" Yoshinobu Nakamura who has left a meaningful work that conveys Japanese folklore. This is a revised and expanded edition of Nakamura's masterpiece, "Ama of Japan," published in 1962. "Ama" is no longer seen due to the appearance of wet suits. The figure of one loincloth, naked, bravely tackling the seabed is robust and graceful. Not only does it cover Japanese Ama culture such as Tsushima, Noto, Shima, Echigo, Kazusa, Bungo, Rikuchu, Awa, Matsumae, and Amami, it also introduces Asian seawoman culture such as Korea and Taiwan. A valuable collection of records from a folklore perspective. Commentary by Tsuneichi Miyamoto. Limited to 2,500 copies.
