"70s Tokyo Transgender (Signed)" is a collection of works by Japanese photographer Satomi Nihongi. In 1970s Tokyo, Nihongi photographed youth culture and marginal communities that were not yet fully visible at the time, continuously documenting the lives of transgender people alongside long-haired young men and the atmosphere of rock culture. This work is a compilation of selected portraits taken during that era, capturing the individual presences encountered in corners of the city with the same sense of distance. Rather than loudly proclaiming a theme, Nihongi quietly accepts only the fact that the subjects stand there, and the work now holds renewed significance as a record of the diverse ways of life that certainly existed in the city at that time. Limited to 500 copies. Signed by the photographer .
