"I Put This Here" is a collection of works by the Dutch artist duo Schultens & Avenes. Photographer Maurice Schultens (1972) and visual artist Liesbeth Avenes (1970) began collaborating in 2001, building a unique style centered on still-life photography. They meticulously construct three-dimensional states in their studio by stacking, layering, suspending, and rotating everyday objects, transforming these into two-dimensional photographs, skillfully blurring the boundaries between three-dimensional and two-dimensional, real and imaginary. Beyond the realm of contemporary art, they have also worked on commissions for brands such as Hermès and Maison Margiela, and for fashion magazines including "Fantastic Man" and "The Gentlewoman," demonstrating their traversal between commercial photography and art. This book was published in 2012 to coincide with their first solo exhibition in Japan, held at limArt in Ebisu, Tokyo. It contains their unique visual experiments, transforming everyday objects into geometric and abstract images. They received the ICP Infinity Award in the same year. The author himself has sold out of this book, making it a collectible record of his activities in Japan.
