"auto-portrait (Sample)" is a collection of works by Daido Moriyama, one of Japan's leading photographers. His work has continued through trial and error, from the 1960s, when he explored his own style through encounters with Eikoh Hosoe, Shomei Tomatsu, and Shuji Terayama, to the 1970s, when he collaborated with his close friend Takuma Nakahira on "Provoke" and presented "Goodbye Photography," a challenging work that overturned conventional notions of photography. After a period of stagnation, he returned to the origins of photography in the 1980s with "Light and Shadow," marking a remarkable comeback. The 1990s saw a resurgence of Moriyama's active spirit. Since 2000, he has revived his "documentary" work while continuously producing new pieces. This book consists of Moriyama's "self-portraits" reflected through shadows and reflections. Text by Simon Baker of Tate Modern. Limited edition of 1000 copies. Sample version.
