"Schwarzes Meer" (Black Sea) is a photobook by British female photographer Vanessa Winship. Winship studied photography and film at the University of Westminster in London, where she met photographer George Georgy, who later became her husband, and together they formed a creative partnership. She has continued to publish documentary reportage while traveling the world. She spent nearly 10 years in the Balkan countries, known as the "powder keg of Europe," and since then has traveled to Turkey, the American countryside, and other places, continuing to depict the history, desires, and identities of places and people through landscapes and portraits.
