"Unnamed Road" is a collection of works by Jungjin Lee, a photographer from South Korea based in New York. The first edition was published in 2015 as part of the "This Place" project, which took place in Israel and the West Bank. Lee is known for his unique technique of printing photographs onto Japanese paper, and he has photographed landscapes in a way that extracts the spirituality inherent in time, memory, and land. In this work, he casts a gaze that seems to superimpose the perspective of an olive tree onto land marked with the traces of history and conflict, sealing a desolate stillness and deep emotion in black and white photographs. This book is a new edition published by Nazraeli Press in 2023, reconfigured to coincide with an exhibition held at a museum in Busan, South Korea. New illustrations and composition have been added to the works included in the first edition, presenting a richer, more lyrical world. Drawing the viewer into the memory of the land, this book elevates the act of walking an anonymous road into a universal human experience, and is a representative collection of Lee's career.
