"MY LOST AMERICA" is a collection of works by Japanese photographer Masataka Nakano. Having presented landscapes devoid of human presence in "TOKYO NOBODY" and sharply capturing fragments of the city in "Tokyo Window Views," Nakano has consistently confronted the structure and anonymity of the city. This book compiles his early works, photographed in various parts of America in the early 1980s, capturing the streetscapes and people of New York, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. Unlike his later images of deserted cities, this book features many scenes where the city and people intersect, and one can sense the beginnings of the interests that would lead to his later works. This book quietly suggests how the experiences he gained while immersed in foreign cities connected to his later view of cities. Published in 2007, first edition, first printing.
