"Tokyo Lovers" is a photobook by Japanese photographer Kenji Kasai. The son of Akira Kasai, a renowned dancer and choreographer in the world of avant-garde art, Kasai studied at the Rudolf Steiner School in Germany in his teens and majored in architecture and environmental design at Tama Art University, making him a true artist at heart. He continues to be a leading photographer in commercial, music, nude, and portrait photography. This book is Kasai's fifth collection of works, a massive volume containing 380 carefully selected images from the vast number of nude portraits of women and landscapes he has taken since 2011. As the title suggests, the focus is mainly on "women" of Tokyo, and as one might imagine from the cover photo, the majority of the portraits are intimate and erotic, typical of Kasai's style. However, rather than the refreshing feel of the cover, the images of women are filled with his usual damp "sensuality," and the occasional glimpses of landscapes create a sentimental atmosphere.
