"The Gynoids (First Edition, Hardcover)" is a collection of works by Hajime Sorayama, one of Japan's leading illustrators. Born in Ehime Prefecture in 1947, he graduated from the design department of Chuo Art Academy and worked for the advertising agency Asahi Tsushinsha (now Asatsu-DK) before becoming a freelancer in 1972. His "sexy robots," which fused metallic robots with female eroticism, became a hot topic, and in 1983 he published his first book, "Sexy Robot" (Genkosha), which made him instantly famous. From the 1990s onward, he attracted increasing attention from overseas, including the United States, and he was in charge of the concept design for Sony's "AIBO" series of pet robots, which was released in 1999 and is now included in the permanent collection of MoMA. Since then, Sorayama's activities have not waned, including commercials and collaborations with brands, but this book is a collection of works themed on beautiful cyborgs. With slender waists, long legs, stiletto heels, protruding breasts, and other fetishistic elements, the images are sensual yet violent. First edition, hardcover.
