"Belleville" is a collection of works by French photographer Thomas Boivin. Boivin is known for his understated style that depicts quiet emotions and poetic sentiments hidden in everyday life with a soft monochrome palette. Set in Belleville, an immigrant neighborhood in eastern Paris, this work was photographed over more than 10 years as Boivin walked through the neighborhood, carefully capturing portraits of people he encountered on the streets and fragments of alleys and buildings. Rather than being a literal record, the photographs exude a sense of distance and intimacy cultivated through repeated walks, and a natural relationship with the subjects envelops the entire collection. Quietly reflecting the changes in the city and the passage of time, this is one of Boivin's representative works, capturing poetic moments residing in daily life.
