This is a photobook by Japanese photographer Nobuyoshi Araki. Published in 1980 by Byakuya Shobo, the same publisher had previously released "Nobuyoshi Araki's False Reportage" that same year. His work in the late 1970s and 1980s, including this book, is notable for his collaboration with editor Akira Suei. Each page features a dated snapshot, arranged chronologically from April 1, 1979, giving the impression of a diary-like record of daily events, but the last photograph is dated 1992. Araki at the time sometimes changed the camera's date setting while shooting, and this trick is likely the origin of the book's "fake" aspect. While there are many nude photographs of women, the book also includes street scenes and a scene from Seijun Suzuki's film "Zigeunerweisen," which is featured on the book's cover, capturing everyday life as perceived by Araki. "Ultimately, for me, the act of photography is about taking pictures with the date on them. Photographs are my life and my existence, and a diary is about recording what happened that day. It feels more fitting for me to have the date on it." (From "My Diary: The Past"). Signed and illustrated by the photographer .
