"Wonder Land 1980-1989 (With OBI)" is a photobook by Japanese photographer Mitsugu Onishi. Born in Fukagawa, Tokyo in 1952, Onishi graduated from Tokyo College of Photography and worked as a research assistant at the same school, holding solo exhibitions of street photography from the 1970s onward. He also taught at Tokyo Zokei University and Kanto Gakuin University, working as an educator. Furthermore, he has long been active in conveying the charm of photography by writing for various photography magazines, writing essays on photography, and serving as a judge for monthly contests. This book is his first photobook, published in 1989, and is the winner of the 18th Kimura Ihei Photography Award. It is composed of street photography taken in the downtown area of Tokyo where he was born and raised. In 1980s Tokyo, the appearance and landscape of the city began to change dramatically due to urban redevelopment and the creation of new towns along the coast. Onishi captures the people who live there and the changing face of the town with a deep love for the city and an objectivity that maintains a delicate distance. "The Lost Tokyo" by a resident of downtown Tokyo. With obi (paper band).
