"Revoir (Japanese Edition)" is a photobook by J.H. Engström, one of Sweden's leading photographers. I recall Nan Goldin, a prominent figure in photography, once saying in an interview that Engström's work is "wonderful, but very difficult to understand," which perfectly describes my own impression of Engström's work. After his early masterpiece and breakthrough work, "Trying to Dance" (2003), the difficulty of his work only increased. This book was published after Engström was asked by his close friends, Patrick Leo (designer) and Gosta Flemming (publisher), to re-examine the negatives from "Trying to Dance." Initially reluctant, Engström, through working with his friends to create previously unpublished works and a new design and layout, discovered a new worldview. While the book as a whole is full of Engström's signature style, the pagination and storytelling make it a photobook that stimulates the brain. Japanese edition. Limited to 600 copies. Numbered edition.
