"The Strawhat Cat (Signed)," a photobook by Masahisa Fukase, one of Japan's leading photographers, is a representative work of Masahisa Fukase, alongside "Family," "Yoko (Wife)," and "Crow," and the third in his "Cat" series, following "Viva! Sasuke" and "Sasuke!! My Beloved Cat." In addition to (the second) Sasuke, this work introduces his younger sister, Momoe. The afterword, written by Fukase himself, tells the story of his love for cats and his own photographic sensibilities. The following is an excerpt: "Cats are said to be very nearsighted because they are short, but their hearing is wonderfully good. I spent over a year lying prone at cat's eye level and taking so many pictures that I somehow became a cat myself. Taking pictures while playing freely with things I liked amidst the changing seasons was a happy task. Sasuke and Momoe are not cute cats like the stuffed animals you might expect; they are just ordinary mixed-breed cats that you might see on any back street in the city. I didn't want to photograph beautiful, cute cats, but rather capture the loveliness of cats by reflecting myself in their eyes. So this photo collection could be called my 'self-portrait' in the form of Sasuke and Momoe." With obi (paper band). Signed by the photographer .
