"The Location: These are the beloved street scenes captured over ten years by a humble still photographer for pink films!" is a collection of works by Japanese photographer Ichiro Tsuda (1942–). Tsuda has been active since the 1960s, working in commercial photography and film production, and later winning the Domon Ken Prize for "Nameless Zone," becoming known as an artist who captures cities and landscapes with a unique sense of distance. This book is one of his early representative works, containing landscapes around filming locations that he photographed over approximately ten years while traveling around as a still photographer for pink films. Rather than focusing on the behind-the-scenes of filmmaking, the focus is on the atmosphere of the city and the presence of people that emerge between shoots, and fragments of the anonymous and diverse city are quietly piled up. Furthermore, this book is published as part of Banshosha's "Yagenbura Selection," and reading it within the context of the series, which deals with people and places living on the fringes of the city, such as cabarets and taxi drivers, brings out a more three-dimensional atmosphere of the era. This book captures the reality of the city, where records and personal perspectives intersect.
