This is a photobook by Daido Moriyama, one of Japan's leading photographers. Born in Osaka in 1938, he worked for a commercial design company while still in high school, and later became an independent graphic designer, but in the early 1960s he pursued photography. He worked as an assistant to Takeji Iwamiya in Osaka, and after moving to Tokyo, he worked as an assistant to Eikoh Hosoe before becoming an independent photographer in 1964. He has published masterpieces such as "Nippon Gekijo Shashincho" and "Shashin yo Sayonara". This book is a photobook published in 2015, and consists of photographs taken between July 2014 and March 2015. What is captured are the details of a chaotic city that are excessive, sculptural, and grotesque. "Most of the things photographed here are things that are not particularly eye-catching, but rather inconspicuous, found on the various streets, exterior walls of buildings, and roadsides of cities. They are things that are moderately dilapidated and quietly lingering in the corners of alleyways or among people. They may occasionally catch my eye in my daily life, but are almost always overlooked. It seems to me that this is somewhat similar to how the world appears through a dog's eyes." (From the afterword). First edition, first printing.
