"London / Wales (First Edition)" is a photobook by Robert Frank, one of America's leading photographers. Frank's representative photobooks include "The Americans," first published in 1958, and his autobiographical photo essay "The Lines of My Hand," published in 1972. He has also left behind many conceptual works in video, but the keen perspective and foresight he cultivated during his early days as a journalist, along with his rare sensibility and creativity, have had a tremendous influence on subsequent photographers and artists. This book is composed of illustrations taken when Frank traveled to England in the early 1950s, after moving to America after the war, working in fashion photography for Harper's Bazaar and other publications, and then becoming a freelance journalist. The depictions of wealthy London and poor Wales are reminiscent of the style he later used to portray the contrast between white and black people in America, making this a collection of early works by journalist Frank. Please note that although this is the 2018 second edition, this book is the 2007 first edition.
