"Tectonic (Signed)" is a collection of works by Danish artist Johan Rosenmunthe. This book explores the relationship between nature, matter, science, and mysticism, spanning photography, installation, and performance. In this work, Rosenmunthe confronts the existence of "stones," such as minerals and crystals. Stones, imbued with geological timescales far exceeding human time, have long been associated with religion, alchemy, and mysticism. This book, focusing on the symbolism and historical imagination of such materials, quietly reveals the distance between the profound time of the natural world and human perception through photographs of stones as still lifes. Furthermore, the inclusion of quotations from Mary Ann Atwood's 19th-century alchemical study, "A Suggestive Inquiry into the Hermetic Mystery," adds a layer of thought that traverses the boundaries between science and mysticism, matter and spirit. Published by SPBH Editions, the publishing label of Self Publish, Be Happy, this book is an experimental photobook that connects photographic expression to philosophical questions. Limited to 1000 copies.
