"Paper Film" is a collection of works by underground cinema genius Takahiko Iimura. He developed an interest in poetry and film while attending Keio High School and Keio University, and during the 1960 Security Treaty protests, he screened anarchic films with Genpei Akasegawa and others. After graduating, he worked as an assistant director at a film company before going freelance and starting to shoot 8mm films, garnering attention with his debut work, "Kuzu." He subsequently became active in the underground film and video scene, connecting with Akasegawa and Natsuyuki Nakanishi through his work with the Hi Red Center. He also produced an experimental film featuring music with Yoko Ono and formed the experimental film production and screening collective "Film Indépendants" with Yoshiyuki Obayashi and others. Since the 1970s, he has expanded his horizons overseas, with screenings and solo exhibitions at MoMA and the Centre Pompidou, making him a pioneer of media art in postwar Japan. In 1970, Iimura published "Love," an "experimental film visualized on a book." It features close-ups of bodies and nudes, as well as scenes of love and sexual activity, in both black and white and color. "Poetry of the body, of love, of beauty." Written in both English and Japanese. Obi missing.
