"Halo" is a photo collection by Japanese female photographer Kawauchi Rinko. Born in 1972, she gained attention in 2002 when she won the 27th Kimura Ihei Photography Award for her photo books "Utatane" (Drowsing) and "Hanabi" (Fireworks). Since then, she has continued to exhibit internationally and has been active worldwide. In 2009, she won the 25th Infinity Award in the Arts category sponsored by ICP, and in 2013, she received the 63rd Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology's Art Encouragement Prize for New Artists and the 29th Higashikawa Photography Award (Domestic Photographer). This is Kawauchi's first photo collection in four years since her 2013 work "Ametsuchi," and all of the images are digitally shot. The collection includes photographs of countless migratory birds in the UK, the "Dashuhua" festival in a village in Hebei Province, China, where molten scrap iron is thrown against a wall instead of fireworks, and the Kamimukae Festival at Izumo Taisha Shrine in Japan. The book's uniform black binding and the various sparkling lights are striking, but the title "Halo" not only means "halo" or "halo," but also refers to the region where a globular cluster of stars surrounds the Milky Way. "The book depicts the potential relationship between nature and humans, and the strength of life, which is like a prayer, encompassing the fear and silence of the darkness, and the hope and joy of looking toward the light" (from the publisher). Japanese edition. Signed by the photographer .
